Amigurumi Lamb to Celebrate Spring!

Well Easter has come and gone and my Amigurumi Peeps and Bunny Boo were a big hit in the Easter baskets for the little ones. I hope all of you had a Happy Easter and that you are enjoying some beautiful Springtime weather wherever you are! To celebrate the arrival of Spring, I crocheted this little amigurumi sheep. Isn't she just too sweet?

The pattern for this little sheep, as well as several other fantastic patterns can be found on the Amigurumi Paradise website here.

I've had some requests for patterns for some of the original dolls I've posted here on my blog such as my Eva doll, my Ciji doll and my Priscilla doll.

So I have decided to put my nose to the grindstone and finally work up patterns for some of those, as well as some brand new designs I've been working on. I'm pretty much starting from scratch since I never write down what I'm doing while I'm crocheting the dolls. ( I knew I should have done that!)
And, as many of you may know from previous posts, I was recently laid off from my job of 9 years due to a company re-organization, so now that I have some free time I've made it a goal of mine to finally concentrate on my crafting endeavors full time. I'm excited to at last be moving toward that goal! So stay tuned for updates on that.

As always, thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful and
crafty week!

Hello Kitty Angel

Here she is at last! My hello kitty angel is finally done! I love her now, but I must admit she was a big pain to crochet! I discovered when I started the body that something was amiss, and I began to suspect I had a poorly translated version of a Japanese pattern. For those of you who are familiar with increasing in crochet you will see what I mean. Here are the instructions for the first few rows of the body:

Body:
In pink
Round 1: 18 single crochet in a double loop start. In this manner you will avoid to have a hole at the tip of the head. <-------this was on every single part, arms, legs, all of it...lol.
Round 2: Increase of 24 stitches (total 42 stitches in this row).

Is it just me? Or is this strange to first of all start out with 18 sc in my starting loop, but then to increase from 18 to 42 in one row??? I've never seen an ami pattern like that. Yikes. The whole pattern was a little weird, but thankfully I was able to perservere and I have a beautiful little angel to show for it!

I think she turned out really sweet! But I think I'll re-write that pattern if I ever decide to make another one of these!

I used a tiny piece of felt for her nose.

Doing the 'meet and greet' with Daisy the fawn.

So much PINK!

And here's my newest snail amigurumi. I crocheted him awhile back, but didn't post any pics of him. I love these little snails. So cute yet so quick and fun to crochet.

In case you missed it when I posted the link to the free snail pattern in an earlier post, here is the link again.

Next on my amigurumi agenda is a tiny chihuahua. Being the chihuahua lady that I am, I can't wait to finish this one!

Thanks for visiting as always!

My Amigurumi Doll Adventure

I recently crocheted a doll, which was kinda sorta my very first original design. Although it actually wasn't intentional. The whole thing, from start to finish, turned out to be pretty funny. Well funny now, but at the time not so funny! I really wanted to make an amigurumi doll since I had been crocheting only animals since discovering Amigurumi. So I started working from a doll pattern and realized quite some way into it that I had messed up. So rather than pulling it out and starting over, I got brave and decided to 'improvise'. I worked from a different doll pattern that seemed like it would work with my 'mistake'. And it did...to a point. When it was no longer coming together I pulled from yet another pattern and went back and forth between the 3 patterns. Arms from one, legs and shoes from another, dress, face and hair from a 3rd. And some just-doin-my-own-thing! You get the idea. Somehow it all came together in the end and after much frustration I finished my doll.

Well, almost finished, I should say. This being my first attempt at crocheting a doll, I didn't realize that if you use regular weight yarn for the hair it is going to end up THICK. I mean REALLY thick!!

I'm still trying to decide what to do with her hair. It's pulled back in a bread tie right now! Lol.

I thought about leaving it alone, naming her "Molly Mop Top" ...you know, like her hair is suppose to be that way.........and being done with it. And I may still.

Also, as you probably already noticed, she doesn't have a mouth yet either. I was so tired of messing with her after the whole 3-pattern-fiasco, I set her aside to be finished later. I must admit, however, that her hair is growing on me, so I've decided to go ahead and post pics of her and keep thinking about what to do with her hair.

She is still a work in progress, and I will post pictures of her along the way, as well as when she is finally finished for realz!

I love her little Mary Janes!

My little pink fawn is so curious! She always has to check out and do a 'meet and greet' with the new amigurumi arrivals!

I'm still working on my 'Hello Kitty Angel'. I'm happy to report that she is almost finished despite working from a very poorly translated version of a Japanese pattern. But that's another story...............

I'll close with a video that is sure to make you laugh. This little guy is too cute for his own good! Enjoy!

Thanks for visiting!
