Free Amigurumi Easter Patterns for You!

Hello everyone! Has it really been a whole month since my last blog post? I'm still fighting my crochet slump but thankfully life is settling down a bit, things are falling back into a routine and I'm feeling those familiar crochet cravings coming back. I finally finished the other little girl doll I have been working on and I'm anxious to start my next project.

I just love making these little dolls. They work up very, very quickly and they are so adorable when they are finished.


With Easter right around the corner I have been searching my crochet pattern collection as well as the internet for cute Amigurumi Easter patterns and I've come up with some adorable ones that I'd like to share!

I love the patterns at Owlishly. Mia is crazy talented and always has the cutest patterns! I have bought several of her patterns and they are always top notch. She also has several free patterns on her site, one of them being these cutie pie Amigurumi Easter eggs.

The Lion Brand yarn website never disappoints when it comes to crochet patterns and they have several free Amigurumi Easter patterns to download. Amigurumi Hearts for Valentine's Day ~ Love is in the Air!

Just as fast as the Christmas and New Year's holidays were over, here comes Valentine's Day sneaking up on me, as most holidays do! Valentine's Day is so much more relaxed than Christmas though, and I always have fun with Valentine's Day crafting. I started a little earlier than normal this year because I couldn't wait to try out a pattern I found for these little amigurumi style hearts. The pattern is from Mia Zamora Johnson of Owlishly.

The pattern includes instructions for hearts in 3 different sizes, large, medium and small. I ended up making one of each.

These hearts were so much fun to crochet and they worked up really quickly too. I made all three of them in one day.

I know turquoise is not a traditional Valentine's day color, but I love it so much I couldn't resist. I'm thinking I will make a key chain out of this one.

Hi everyone! I'm still plugging away on my crochet-a-long squares, as well as my little amigurumi doll, which is very close to being finished and ready to share with all of you - yay! I have a thing for crocheted baskets. I just love them. I found the free pattern for these on the Design Sponge Website. Exciting News for Gourmet Crochet Fans!

I have long been a fan of crochet designer Carolyn Christmas of Gourmet Crochet, so needless to say I was really excited when I found out that Carolyn has a new blog! When I heard the news I visited her blog right away and was delighted to find that she is starting off the New Year with a Mystery Crochet-a-Long for an afghan project called "Variations on a Theme". Starting Tuesday, January 5, 2010 she posted instructions for the first square and will continue to post instructions for one new square every day until the afghan project is completed. Photos of progress will be posted to a Flickr group each day, as well as posted on a Facebook discussion and a Ravelry page. How exciting is that? Even more exciting is the news that each person who participates in the Crochet-a-Long will receive an e-pattern of the finished afghan instructions at the end of the project!

You don't have to do anything special to join the crochet-a-long. Just visit her blog every day to get the patterns. Carolyn is an amazing designer so the afghan will no doubt be awesome.

I'm still busy with my Christmas crocheting and crafting, and I have almost finished my Christmas doll.  I'm hoping to put the finishing touches on her tonight and share her with all of you soon.  But in the meantime,  I thought it was time I shared some more free Christmas crochet pattern links I've found around the web. These little crochet goodies are great for decorating your home or as gift toppers. Christmas Crochet and Some Free Crochet Patterns too!

My Christmas crocheting has officially begun! I'm feeling especially accomplished because I finished the first one on my list, which I knew would be time consuming, so I tackled it first. I really had to buckle down though because after crocheting amigurumis, which gives instant gratification, it was hard to stay focused long enough to make so many squares from the same pattern. But I must admit it was very relaxing and I'm so happy with how the afghan turned out.

I used Red Heart yarn in purple, fuchsia, paddy green and white.  I used a Size J-10 (6mm) crochet hook and each square measures 8" x 8".  There are 32 of the flower squares and 31 of the plain white squares.  It measures 59" x 75", so it's a nice size.

I really love the colors in this afghan, the contrast of the shades of purple with the white is just striking. 

As usual, the minute I laid it across the couch one of my chihuahuas wanted to snuggle down in it.  

The pattern I used is out of a crochet booklet I've had for ages called "A World of Grannies" by Red Heart.
I did a search and found that the booklet is still available.  A couple of private parties are selling it and I saw one on E-bay, if anyone is interested in purchasing this book.  It has a total of 7 afghan patterns, and all of them are very nice.  I'm planning on making the one on the cover, shown above, for another Christmas gift because I love the unique motif used in that one.

I'm still preparing for the Christmas craft boutique at our local mall, and I'm hoping to have my Etsy shop open before Christmas,  or if not, by the first of the year.  So needless to say I'm going to be very busy between now and Christmas.  But busy is good for me right now.  I lost my father last year, 4 months before Christmas, so this is a difficult time for me, and the busier I am, the less my mind seems to dwell on any one thing.  Crochet is truly therapy for me these days.
