I really enjoyed working on all of my Valentine's Day crochet projects and I thought they turned out Love-ly. I made a couple more of the hearts I showed you in my last post because they are just so cute and I thought of so many things that could be done with them. Like this face:
Another option would be to add arms and legs to this little heart face. I think that would just be too cute!
I sewed a crocheted flower on this heart and I am going to use it for a pin cushion, It would also be cute to make a sachet out of one of them, or attach a string to one and hang it from your rear view mirror.
I like making little trinkets for friends for little surprises, so I turned the turquoise heart into a key chain.
Here is the pattern if you'd like to make some of these for yourself or as gifts.
Supplies: Small amount of worsted weight yarn
Size F crochet hook.
Decorative button of your choice
Stitch marker
A tube of lip balm or lipstick
Round 1: Chain 2. 5 sc in 2nd chain from hook. Join with a slip stitch at the end of the round.
Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. Join with sl at end of round. (10)
Round 3: Working in back loop only, sc in each stitch around. Do not join. (10)
Round 4 & remaining: Sc in each stitch around, working in a spiral, until the cozy is the length of your tube of lip balm or lipstick.
When your cozy is the correct length, decide where you want your button and either sew it on now, or mark the spot where you want it to be.
For the flap:
Stop at the end of the last round and join with a slip stitch.
Chain 1 and turn, then sc in the next 5 stitches, and turn.
Continue working 5 sc back and forth until the flap is long enough to fold over and reach the top of the button. (I put my lip balm in the cozy at this point to make sure the flap was long enough to reach over the top of the tube and down to the top of the button.) When the flap reaches the top of the button, chain 5 and join to the other end of the flap with a slip stitch and finish off. Note: If you are using a larger button, like I did, you may want to make the chain on your flap a few stitches longer to allow it to fit over a large button
Weave in your ends and you are done! I hope you have fun with these if you decide to make some. Thanks for visiting as always, I hope you have a terrific and crafty week!
