I finally have a completed project to share with you and I hope that you'll like it as much as I do!
For quite some time I have been admiring the work of the amazingly talented Beth at By Hook, By Hand. Beth is talented beyond words, and if you haven't visited her blog before you are in for quite a treat!! So here is my version of Beth's "mini free spirit" doll. Her name is Katrina.
This doll is made from Beth's Mini Free Spirit doll pattern which is available on her blog here. The thread bear she's holding is one I made a while back and posted here.
She's so tiny and petite and only 6 inches tall. I absolutely love her!
The dress is also from one of Beth's patterns and I think it makes her look so girlie and sweet.I will be making more of these dolls in the future. You might say "I'm hooked".
Now on to other business! The winner of the Yoplait Yogurt Spa Set giveaway is Lynn! Congratulations Lynn! I will be contacting you via e-mail to get your information for the delivery of your gift. I hope that you will enjoy your gift set and free yogurt coupons, and use them to Nurture and Nourish yourself.
Next on my to do list is to get back to writing my original design doll patterns, which are coming along nicely, just very S-L-O-W.
Thanks for visiting, as always. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and remember to take time in your busy schedules to take care of YOU.
Hello Sonya,
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you in the loss of your husband. I imagine 'thinking too much' would be a constant problem; what a blessing that crochet can help you.
Your doll is totally delightful! The look you have with just the eyes is adorable...like a Joan Walsh Anglund illustration come to life. You have done a beautiful job with her, and I hope you post a picture on the Free Spirit photo site.
Thank-you for sharing Katrina with us :-)
Beth
I too am sad for you at the loss of your husband. I've been crocheting for just over a year and I think it is one of the most therapeutic things that I've ever done. Your dolly is just so sweet! You did an awesome job of creating her.
ReplyDeleteKeep Hooking, Hugs XX

I lost my husband when he was 41 - no matter the age it is tragic, and not matter the time in your life it is hard. Just let yourself indulge in what makes you feel good. Time will soften the blow, but like me, even nearly 20 years later, I still feel the loss.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing is that you will be able to feel it and still enjoy the rest of your life - perspective is everything. Bless you, and may you find your peace, your even keel in life, and the joy that is waiting for you "somewhere out there." I did and have a wonderful companion, friend and husband. He doesn't take the place of my husband who passed, but he is a great friend and a wonderful joy, as well as a new experience in life!
And for your joys, your dolls are just the cutest! Love reading your blog although I am not a commenter. You do bring joy to the rest of us, so I hope it shines back to you!
I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I wish you well and am delighted that you are returning to those things in your life that bring you joy. The little doll is adorable and I'll check out the links.
ReplyDeleteI'm hooked on Blythe, but I love this little doll very cute.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences on your husband's passing, I hope your crochet bring healing to your heart.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your husband.
ReplyDeleteI love the doll she is very pretty wonderful job!
Hello Sonya,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog and for your kind words. OMG, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband! It was very difficult to lose my brother, but most of my pain came from sympathizing with my SIL! I can't even imagine how hard it must be. May God bless you always!
Condolences on the lost of your husband.
ReplyDeleteYour dolls are beautiful. I love the detail work.
Sonya - you are a brave and amazing woman. I am so sorry for your loss and at the same time so touched by the kind comments you left on my blog. Creation is a powerful form of healing and I hope that your work brings you as much comfort as mine does me. Hugs and prayers -- Karla
